Summertime, a time to be slack and unmotivated.....

I find myself joining the club when i ask  "wtf is amateurhourbmx?" In theory we are here to document and somehow put a positive spin on bmx in the region (in theory). We got off to damn good start with updates, a jam, prizes, ect. and now the train has stalled out thanks to old man sunshine and bikini girls. Vacations, shovels, beaches, blah blah makes computer time seem boring. Fear not faithful viewers, the rest of summer has events stacked up, first up with amateurhour's first ever nightfall trail jam. No date set, just an early heads up to all the trail riders out there. All my electrical knowledge will be needed for this clusterfuck of an idea, 20000 watts of juice lighting up a forest may be a fire hazard? Look for the "fuck mother jam 2" sometime this fall in a new location with new setups. Web edits? Yea we got a few, Video release? Possibly? Filming for Congratulations asshole is still going on i think, but a deadline has to b made someday...wouldnt you think?  Oh yea look for amateurhour"s "night at the races" coming up where we will be attending a bmx race at morristown bmx raceway. Look for me at the finish line shitting out a lung and coughing up years of laziness by nights end. Anyone wanting to participate will be included with a free amateur hour padset. look for more on this stuff as the weeks progress. Till then look at this.

And on the fifth day, God said "let there be tabletop friday".

When it comes to local heroes noone is more notable than William J. Love. I dont know if his middle name starts with J but that rolls of the tongue nicely. Mr. Love points his wheels toward the sky this week for your viewership. Look closely and u may see KNoxvilles own Micheal Tetro sneeking in the background. Its Blue PLum festival, so get out and get crossed-up.

well spank my ass....it's tabletop Friday!!

There's been a lot of characters that's come from the east tn bmx scene through the years. Lots of guys who put in years of riding and really had no recognition at the end of the day. Jessee Quackenbush is one of those characters, as well as someone who went unnoticed for a long time. Not today you wild S.O.B. Ive gone back to my bag of old photos and found this little gem staring right at me. From my failing memory, i recognize the skatepark as Zero Gravity in asheville NC. I cant tell ya the goddamn year to save my life, lets say 2002?  You better believe that bike has four pegs and a tall seat, and each peg had been ground down to fatal edges. Jessie didn't care, he liked to ride his way, and this photo shows his way was effective.

Good weekend.

This weekend was all about bmx. The Fit shop stop went great. Van really did things in a way that got kids pumped on Fit and Angry Penguin. I have never seen so many kids on bikes in Johnson City. As an added bonus Stew Johnson and Jeff Z. were along for the ride. I cant say enough about how nice these guys are and how much they do for bmx. Stephen took a lot of pictures and I'm sure he will put them up on Dixie Bmx in the near future. Some bad weather sent them off early yesterday but once it cleared up Jake, Jon, Tim and myself got to ride our favorite curved wall. Devon took these pcitures for us. Perfect ending to a great weekend.

Drinks on me....VIP!

Your only as good as the company ya keep, and when Mike Paton is in your posse, you have won. The image seen here says 3 shots going for a buck fifty.....  top shelf indeed. While in Florida Mike P. myself and a posse of drinkers watched at least $400 go away , with a good 3 bill from mike himself. And that's what i love about him, you cant sit and count your money lonely in a vault, or you can spend it on life's moments. I'm sure the party is still going strong, god speed Mike.

Fit team in the hizzy!!!

Canada contains 10% of the worlds forests. Now that that's out of the way... Come down to the Angry Penguin may 21st and meet the undisputed champion of bmx, Vandever Homan, along with some of the Fit team. If you don't know who Van Homan is, you should throw your computer in the river, throw your bike in the lake, fish your bike out of the lake, because that was just silly that you threw it in. You know what, shame on you... Nevermind.

Lots off good stuff going on. Product toss, free pizza and someone will go home with a free Wifi frame! Click the flyer to see it big.

Tabletop Friday?...of corse it is. Retro edition.

The date on this picture says it all........Matt Rowland has been killing it before most people knew what "it" was. This was one of the first photos i ever took and is still a favorite. This week, Matt throws his 39 lb S&M Holmes flat from the last millenium for our viewing pleasure. Its friday...You know the drill.....
